Factions

The Aarakocra Tribes revere the wind spirit Skaivorn. Historically, they ranged widely through the Cradlewood Forest, with surviving groups primarily located in the northwestern mountains near the giants' lands. Over 100 years ago, the Aarakocra were populous in this region, but the Empire forced many to migrate north and west, resulting in a diminished population. The tribes have long opposed The Empire, which has taken Skaivorn from them. Individual members or pilgrims can sometimes be found in towns. Several Aarakocra have been residing at the Great Tree for months under an arrangement with the elders, maintaining a mostly isolated presence. They have established a deal with the elders of the Great Tree. Deicida proposed seeking the Aarakocra Tribes as potential allies to understand or reclaim Skaivorn. The Aarakocra are known to be at odds with the Empire and are described as "masters of the sky."

The Church of Light is represented by Brother Maynard Lasalle, a cleric known for his weariness and intoxication. It is a significant faction within The Empire, enforcing the Purity of Light Act, which prohibits unsanctioned magic among the general populace.

Cidrella Industries is led by Cidrella Vexweld, who specializes in the creation and operation of dirigibles. Cidrella is an ally of Gearwhistle and has been involved in projects related to airship technology. She is currently wanted by the Imperials, who have captured her, taken her arm, and seized her equipment.

The Imperial legion is a segment of the Empire's military, consisting of a mix of auxiliaries and trained troops. They are recognized for their use of light crossbows.

The Imperials are a faction known for capturing and ambushing individuals, as demonstrated by their actions against Cidrella Vexweld and Red Ryan. They are associated with an Inquisitor, indicating a level of authority and enforcement in their operations.

The Inquisitors are a faction operating under the authority of the Empire, tasked with enforcing order and extracting information through interrogation. They capture individuals deemed threats to the Empire, including Red Rhian and Cid, as documented in a blood-soaked letter from Magistrate Blaise Fournival.

The Kai Rizalten is a faction connected to secrets and the mystical. It is associated with a creature that possesses knowledge about its members, suggesting a link to the supernatural or hidden truths.

Knights Of The Rose is a faction mentioned in relation to Deicida. During an encounter with Gautier, Deicida manifested visible divine light and spoke of a mission from God to extinguish darkness, urging Gautier to aid their cause. Gautier responded with awe, inquiring if Deicida was one of the Knights Of The Rose.

An order cited by an old centaur at the Wizardry School council as still honorable within The Empire's history.

The Logwalkers are one of Nevos's three main halfling clans, alongside the Oakrends and the Root Weavers. They are responsible for the transportation of lumber and the care of aurochs, with their Docks and auroch stables being part of their operations. The halfling river pilot Lyric, a member of the Logwalkers, ferried a group across the Tyrus and mentioned that the Logwalkers have been making profitable lumber deals with The Empire. Lyric noted an increase in strangers visiting town and that Imperial visitors have met with the clan leaders at the Great Tree. Allison is also identified as a member of the Logwalkers, and Zecki's brother serves as her right hand.

The Oakrends are one of Nevos's three major halfling clans, known for their work as lumberjacks. Mira is a current leader of the Oakrends. The clan has been engaged in increased Imperial logging contracts, leading to extended work hours. Ren Axeleaf, a member of the Oakrends, is characterized as a hot-headed lumberjack. He has previously mocked Zecki and was present at the Flint Moss Public while appearing drunk. He was confronted by staff, staggered out, and bumped into Deicida as he left. Finn noted that Ren's bullying behavior has worsened under the pressure of the Imperial logging contracts.

The Purity of Light movement is an initiative by The Empire that restricts the use of magic among its populace. It has led to the enactment of the Purity of Light Act, which imposes severe penalties for violations, including execution.

The Resistance is an underground movement opposing The Empire's encroachment on the rights of the populace. Members include Cynthia, Thea Margos, and Commander Red Ryan. The group is preparing for conflict against The Empire and is involved in various missions to undermine its authority.

The Root Weavers are one of the three halfling clans of Nevos, known for replanting and reseeding the Cradlewood Forest. They are druids skilled in nature. Artemis is a clan leader associated with the Root Weavers. Nevos is a moving halfling lumber city that relocates every twenty years. The three clan leaders convene at the Great Tree, where Imperial visitors have been reported to meet with them more frequently.

The Brackles are a family of kenku marginalized within The Empire's central city-states. They are represented by Clemens "Gearwhistle" Brackle, whose older brother, Talon "Nine" Brackle, was killed during an encounter with a group.

The Empire is a governing body associated with the central city-states, known for its prejudiced treatment of marginalized groups, including the kenku. It is a political-religious power that practices a religion centered on the worship of light.

The Undead Rats have mangled bodies and are filled with unnatural life. They surged from the shadows in the cellar and attacked Yukon Cornelius, successfully biting him and dragging him to the floor unconscious and bleeding.

the rebellion is a faction actively opposing the ruling authorities. It operates in the region of Vos and is involved in efforts to rescue captured members. Red Ryan is an officer within the rebellion.
